Use and Implementation of Adult Protection and Support Orders (APSOs)
I would be grateful if you could provide the following information: 1, Recording. Does your local authority or Safeguarding Board have a policy for collecting data on APSO use? Please provide copies or links to any online documents 2. Adult Protection and Support Orders: 2a. Historical use a) The number of APSOs applied for by your authority since April 2016. If this number cannot be confidently confirmed, a clear statement to this effect would be appreciated. b) The number of APSOs granted by the courts since April 2016 c) The number of APSOs executed, since April 2016 i.e. instances where entry was gained using the order. d) Any clarifying comment about applications made but refused by the Court, warrants granted but not used etc would be appreciated 2b Use last year (January - December 2024) a) The number of APSOs applied for in 2024 b) The number of APSOs granted by the court in 2024 c) The number of APSOs executed in 2024, i.e. instances where entry was gained using the order d) Again, a comment about applications made but refused, warrants granted but not executed etc would be appreciated 3. Adult Practice Reviews (APRs) and Single Unified Safeguarding Reviews (SUSRs): - Copies of any APRs or SUSRs conducted by your authority or board that reference the use of APSOs, whether considered, used or recommended in any reflection or analysis of practice 4. Authorised Officers: a. The number of authorised officers employed by your authority as of April 2025. And: for each authorised officer: b. Their professional background (e.g., social work, nursing, no professional qualifications or other (if so, please specify relevant background eg. former Police Officer). c. Their main job role within the authority d. Whether they hold any management responsibilities in their substantive post 5. Guidance and Analysis: - Links to any internal guidance, training materials, or analysis documents concerning the use of APSOs not already identified in requests above
