Second homes

Given Pembrokeshire's significant number of second homes and the county's 200% premium, we would be grateful if the council could comment on the following: 1. How many properties are currently registered as second homes in Pembrokeshire? 2. How many of those properties are currently liable for the council tax premium? 3. How much revenue has Pembrokeshire County Council raised from second-home council tax premiums during the most recent financial year? 4. Is the council confident it is identifying all properties liable for second-home premiums? 5. What systems or checks does the authority use to identify potentially undeclared second homes or holiday properties that may be avoiding the premium? 6. Does the council cross-reference information from short-term holiday letting platforms, planning records, electoral roll data, business rates, or other sources to identify potentially liable properties? 7. Has the council identified any additional second homes or holiday lets following compliance or enforcement activity in the last 12 months? If so, how many and what additional revenue was recovered? 8. Has Pembrokeshire County Council seen any notable changes in second-home declarations since higher council tax premiums were introduced? 9. Does the council believe current legislation gives local authorities sufficient powers to identify and enforce second-home premium liability? 10. More broadly, what impact does the council believe the second-home premium is having in Pembrokeshire in terms of housing availability, local communities, and council finances?
