Clarification on Warranty and Final Data State. Thank you for your response on FOI 3916577. For clarity, please confirm the following in relation to software based data erasure carried out by your third party provider: 1. Whether the provider's service includes an explicit warranty or guarantee that the final data state of storage media is irrecoverable. 2. If no such warranty exists, whether the Council holds recorded information demonstrating that the final data state of storage media subject to software based erasure is irrecoverable, as distinct from confirmation that an erasure process was completed successfully. 3. What specific recorded evidential assurance the Council relies upon to conclude that personal data has been rendered irretrievable, beyond access to audit logs or portal-based process reports. This request relates solely to clarification of the recorded assurance framework relied upon when concluding that personal data has been rendered irretrievable.
